Dan Best has a new journal entry

After riding out a pretty fierce norther at Isla Carmen, we decided that it was getting too cold for us as we progressed north and that rather than continue up to COnception Bay, we should turn around and head back south.  The water temperature had dropped to 61 degrees and the nights had gotten so cold I had gotten a sleeping bag out was was using it as a comforter at night.  There were time when the temperature in the boat got down to the low to mid 50 and we had to resort to turning the heater on!  How do you guys living up north where it really gets cold manage <grin>?

February Cruise Out Report

The February cruise-out to Sierra Pt. YC was attended by 11 members.  LA DOLCE VITA powered over on Friday.  We left PSPYC at 11:15 AM and arrived at Sierra Pt. YC’s guest dock at about 3:00 PM. The trip was made in calm conditions with light rain.  ENCHANTE’ powered over on Saturday. Two other PSPYC boats experienced mechanical problems and had to abandon their cruise-out on Saturday.

Those attending were Paul and Earlene and grandson Caleb Lagier, Sue and Dave Jacoby, Paul and Lillian Maheu, Luc Maheu and Ali Immel, and Barbara and Charles Hayes.  A fun event with cocktails aboard LA DOLCE VITA followed by dinner and dancing to a live band at the SPYC club house. LA DOLCE VITA  and ENCHANTE’  motor sailed back to PSPYC on Sunday morning, getting underway at 11:00 AM.

The March cruise-out is to the San Rafael YC for their St. Patrick’s Party on March 12th. This is  traditional Irish St. Patrick’s Party, with corn beef and cabbage for dinner Saturday. There will also be breakfast on Sunday morning. They plan to limit this event to 100 people. I have reserved 20 dinners at this time. Colm has assured me that I can add to this number if I give him adequite notice. I have 16 people signed up at this time. I have reserved a deep side tie slip for LA DOLCE VITA and the Port Captain is expecting a large fleet from PSPYC. The tide will be a flood Saturday afternoon in the San Rafael Creek.

February Cruise Out, Sierra Pt YC

Hello all,

The February Cruise-out is the 19-20th to Sierra Pt. YC. Sierra Pt. YC is located in Sierra Pt. Marina at Brisbane, between Hunter’s Pt. and the San Francisco Airport. I spoke with Port Captain Larry Walters today. The menu has not been posted at this time.

Their dinners are always great. There are no slips fees at this club. They have a long guest dock in front of the clubhouse.

There will be entertainment after dinner by the “FIFTY ONE FIFTY BAND”. Please plan to attend this cruise-out. I know we will have a great time.

Please let me know if you plan to join us by land or by sea. There is a sign-up sheet in the bar, or you can email me or call.

Fair Winds and Following Seas,

Paul Lagier, Fleet Captain
